BonaVita 8-cup Drip Brewer.

…With thermal carafe. Finally a challenger comes along to do battle with the legendary Technivorm Moccamaster. For years now the 'Vorm has been the only recommendable drip brewer, due to its powerful heating element(s), relatively quick brew time and general properness. However, the BonaVita solves a few of the Moccamaster's little issues (like not wetting all the grounds), and comes at a considerably more attractive price. Simple, single-switch operation…You fill it with water, toss some grounds in the filter, turn it on, and your work is done. Brews in around five minutes and then shuts itself off. Glass-lined thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot without scorching it for hours on a burner.
You know you're never gonna talk Mom into a French press...here's her next birthday gift.
One caveat: make sure you preheat the carafe with hot water and dump it beforehand, so you're not brewing into a cold pitcher.
Frieling Stainless French Presses.

These are the best French presses money can buy. 100% stainless steel construction. Double-walled vacuum carafe to contain the heat very effectively. These presses are nearly indestructible, very easy to use and clean, and will make the perfect big ol' muddy cup of press brew. The 2-cup model will brew one small cup; the 6-cup brews two normal mugs; the 8-cup brews two BIG mugs for you and spousey. This is very likely to be the last French press you will ever buy.
Quick instructions.
Weigh 1/2 oz. for 2 cup, 1.5 oz. for 6 cup or 2 oz. for 8 cup brewer; grind fairly coarse; dump grounds into press; start timer and pour just enough 200ºF (approx.) water to wet grounds; wait 30 sec. for bloom to settle; swirl and fill up to just below spout notch; put on plunger/lid and press down just to surface of steeping coffee; at 4 minutes slowly press plunger all the way down; decant ALL the coffee into preheated mugs immediately. Don't leave brew standing in the carafe while you drink your first cup, or it will become disgustingly overextracted. Enjoy!
One other hint.
A burr grinder can seriously help improve your French pressing…whirly-blade grinders make a great deal of dust that can clog the filter plunger on these, making it very hard to press.
Chemex 8-cup Drip Brewer.

The Chemex is a decades-old-yet-very-modern design that you can read about
here. This classic uses a very heavy folded paper filter, which of course
we also sell (none are included in the box with this brewer). Our roaster Tom uses his Chemex on a daily basis, and this device makes a clean, bright, perfect cup. Glass carafe with convenient and pretty wood/leather collar. Fire up your kettle and grinder and go.
Hario V60 Glass Pourover Dripper.

We make a lot of pourovers for ourselves and our customers at Cultiva, and while there are many acceptable models of these devices to choose from, we've found the glass V60 to be as perfect a dripper as you can find. These have a very large hole at the bottom and use a fully-conical filter that comes to a point, rather than the flat-bottomed paper cone/tiny drain hole arrangement you'll find on other ceramic or plastic drippers. In our experience this means far less jamming and frustration. The glass is very heavy and durable, and the plastic collar/handle sits very nicely on your mug. The V60 is a very quick, clean, simple way to brew up a mug for yourself in the morning! FILTERS NOT INCLUDED;
we have them here.
Quick instructions.
Install paper filter in dripper and place on cup; rinse paper filter with hot water; use fine drip grind and place grounds in filter; pour over enough water to wet grounds fully; wait 30 seconds for bloom to subside; pour the rest of the water in two installments; try to distribute evenly for even extraction. Stir if you must. When grounds drain fully, Enjoy!
Ratios.
35 grams (1.25 oz.) of grounds for 16 oz. of water; 25 grams (just under 1 oz.) for 12 oz. of water.

Keep Cups.

These pretty cups are made in Australia. They are 100% food-safe plastic, and very environmentally sound in that producing one takes a small fraction of the resources that go into a disposable cup, and these Keep Cups can be used many times to boot. At the moment we're only stocking the popular 16-oz. size, but these are barista-friendly cups that work great for pouring lattes. The cup itself is harder plastic with a silicone band, and the lid is softer material with a cool swinging plug to cover the sip-hole.
